History
Elementary
Mathematics Teacher Education Program began to train teacher candidates within
the “Department of Elementary Mathematics Education” under the Department of
Elementary Education in the Faculty of Education in 2016-2017 academic year. As
of 2017, the program continues to train middle school mathematics teachers as
an undergraduate program under the Department of Mathematics and Science
Education.
Mission
and Vision of the Program
Elementary
Mathematics Teacher Education Program aims to train qualified mathematics
teachers who are well-trained in their field to teach mathematics to middle
school students, can think freely, have creative and reasoning skills, know the
ways of accessing information, use the educational methods and technologies
required by the age, want to solve the problems of mathematics education in our
country and passionately love the teaching profession, mathematics and
mathematics teaching.
Program
Structure and Course Content
Mathematics
teacher candidates who will work in middle schools take compulsory and elective
field courses such as Foundations of Mathematics, Analysis, Analytical
Geometry, Abstract Mathematics, Algebra; field education courses such as
Teaching Numbers, Teaching Geometry and Measurement, Teaching Probability and
Statistics, Mathematical Modeling, Problem Solving in Mathematics, Logical
Reasoning; professional knowledge courses such as Introduction to Education,
Philosophy of Education, Teaching Principles and Methods, Instructional
Technologies and general culture courses such as Atatürk's Principles and
History of Turkish Revolution, Foreign Language, Turkish Language. Click here

Candidates
have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the program
in middle schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education within the
scope of Teaching Practice I and Teaching Practice II courses.
Workspaces
Teacher
candidates who graduate from the Elementary Mathematics Teacher Education Program
with the title of “Primary Mathematics Teacher” can work as mathematics teachers
in public or private school affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.
Our graduates can do academic studies in Master or Doctorate programs related
to Mathematics education. In addition, they can also work in the public sector
as a result of various exams (KPSS etc.) and interview assessments. Furthermore,
graduates can work in the private sector by taking part in tasks such as
content development for mathematics.
Program
Admission Requirements
Students
are admitted to the Primary Mathematics Teaching Program according to the
numerical score type of the central placement exam conducted by ÖSYM.
