Purpose of the Program

The aim of the Social Studies Education program is to train teachers who are competent in their field, think critically, are creative, have problem-solving skills, use information technologies, and have a high pedagogical understanding and have 21st century competencies. In this context, we are trying to provide teacher candidates with an interdisciplinary perspective by benefiting from the information provided by social sciences. In addition, our Social Studies Education Master's program is also available in our department. Our students are offered student exchange opportunities within the scope of ERASMUS and FARABI.

Required Qualifications

Those who want to study in the social studies teaching program must have a high level of verbal ability, be interested in social studies and be successful in this field. The ability to effectively convey one's thoughts to others, to communicate well with others, to provide a good learning environment, and to strive to improve oneself and those around them are also sought after characteristics in social studies teachers.

Titles Earned by Graduates and Jobs Done

Those who complete the program are given the title of "Social Studies Teacher". Social Studies teachers provide students with knowledge, skills and attitudes related to their field within the framework of the curriculum prepared by the Ministry of National Education in the school they work. To this end, they prepare appropriate learning environments, evaluate the success of their students and take measures to increase success, monitor developments in their profession and try to reflect these in the curriculum.

Fields of Study

Social studies teachers have the opportunity to work as Social Studies Teachers in public and secondary schools.
